Disaster Response Platform by The United Arab Emirates to support the affected by natural disasters in the afflicted countries.
The UAE announced today the launch of a new digital platform for disaster response.
This platform will be used by the affected people to inform the international community about their humanitarian needs in a timely and effective manner.
Disaster Response Platform to Maintain International Peace and Security.
This announcement came before the open debate by the UNSC on “Maintaining International Peace and Security: Promoting Partnerships between the Public and Private Sectors in the Humanitarian Field”.
The Disaster Response platform will help the countries affected by disasters to report the areas and the amount of needs required.
In fact, this will help partners to speed up the delivery of assistance to specific places.
The platform will also use the latest technologies in a secure manner to ensure data safety.
Including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and spatial analysis tools.
The previous world infrastructure is no longer able to keep pace with the current crises so we need a Disaster Response Platform.
H.E. Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, said:
“We are facing today a crisis in the humanitarian aid system.
Since the previous infrastructure is no longer able to keep pace with the current crises.
The UAE is working to develop a digital platform to help governments.
Also to enable them to benefit from international support in the wake of natural disasters.
We look forward to working with governments and with the private sector.
As well as the humanitarian organizations in the coming months to launch a tool that will enhance our ability to respond to crises.”
The UAE is working closely with the United Nations and other partners to ensure the delivery of assistance to those in need.
It is worth noting that H.E. Egli Hasani, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, chaired the open debate.
Since his country holds the presidency of the Security Council throughout the current month of September.
The UAE is one of the largest donors in the field of humanitarian work in the world.
Dubai hosts the “World Humanitarian Services City”, which is the largest humanitarian logistics center in the world.
Including 62 organizations, including the main UN agencies and 17 private companies.
We should point out the great importance of the aviation and logistics industry in the UAE.
Including Etihad Airways, Emirates Airways, and Dubai World Ports.
Since they are important in supporting international humanitarian efforts.
Mentioning that the private sector in the UAE has contributed more than $250 million to support global humanitarian efforts during the past five years.
