Immediate Ban on DeepSeek from a European Country … Here is the Reason …
The Italian Data Protection Authority announced on Thursday that it had banned the Chinese artificial intelligence model “DeepSeek”.
Due to a lack of information regarding the personal data it collects.
In a statement on its website, the authority clarified that the ban on “DeepSeek” took effect immediately.
The authority expressed dissatisfaction with DeepSeek’s response to its initial inquiry.
Mainly it asked about the collected personal data.
It also asked where the data is stored, and how users are notified.
Worried Irish and Italian Authorities
The authority further stated:
“Contrary to our findings, the company claimed that it does not operate in Italy and that European regulations do not apply to it”.
Noting that the application had been downloaded by millions of people worldwide within just a few days.
On Wednesday, the Irish Data Protection Authority stated that it had sent a written letter to “DeepSeek”.
Through this letter it expressed concerns about potential violations of EU privacy protection laws.
Bloomberg News quoted Graham Doyle, deputy head of the Irish authority, as saying:
“We have written to DeepSeek to request information regarding the data processing carried out on individuals in Ireland.”

Upon its release, DeepSeek quickly surpassed established AI applications like ChatGPT in download numbers on platforms such as Apple’s U.S. App Store.
This swift rise led to a notable decline in U.S. tech stock values.
Including a 13% drop in Nvidia’s share price.
Reports have surfaced about DeepSeek exposing a database containing over a million log entries, secret keys, and chat logs.
Potentially allowing unauthorized access to its systems.
While DeepSeek’s emergence has intensified discussions about China’s advancements in AI and their global implications.
The U.S. Commerce Department is investigating whether DeepSeek has utilized U.S. chips with restrictions on export to China.
Highlighting concerns over technology transfer and national security.
