His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received a phone call from Costa Rica President Carlos Alvarado Quesada on the prestigious strategic ties that link the two friendly countries, as well as global and international issues of mutual concern.

President Quesada expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for his country’s assistance from the UAE to improve his scientific ability to fight the coronavirus pandemic and repatriate Costa Rican Abu Dhabi residents.
He also lauded the achievements of the UAE in the field of medical innovation and their global contributions in this area.
The call touched upon the importance of maintaining global food stability and increasing economic and commercial cooperation.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the importance of cooperation and unity between various countries around the world to address common challenges.
Costa Rica and UAE relations

The aircraft transported 9 metric tons of medical supplies and 10,000 research kits given to Costa Rica to support attempts by the government to curtail COVID-19 spread and 9 metric tons of medical supplies to Chile. The aid will help around 9,000 medical professionals as they work to contain the virus.

The aircraft brought nine metric tons of medical supplies and 10,000 research kits given to Costa Rica. To also support attempts by the government to curtail COVID-19 spread.

Commenting on the provision of assistance, Juma Rashid Khamis Ahmad Al Rumaithi, UAE Ambassador to Costa Rica, stated. “Thanks to the help and encouragement of the leadership of our two countries. There has been a quantum leap in bilateral ties. Which has also contributed to the creation of a strategic relationship and has led to increased collaboration, trade and growth.
“The UAE is also keen to stand by brotherly and friendly countries and support medical teams. They are also among the most vulnerable to the pandemic” said the envoy.
The UAE has replied to the COVID-19 crisis to date by delivering more than 904 metric tons of assistance. Also employing over 904,000 medical professionals in the process.
