Parties reached a historic consensus through the “UAE Agreement”.
Which outlines a roadmap for achieving climate action goals by 2030.
And also promotes a responsible, just, and orderly transition to a low-carbon energy system.

Global confidence in the UAE:

The international agreement underscores global trust in the UAE’s optimistic vision.
As well as its pursuit of innovative solutions for sustainable development.

Building on the legacy of Sheikh Zayed:

COP28 Presidency embraced the communication approach of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Fostering strong relationships and partnerships for the benefit of both the nation and the world.

Going beyond negotiations:

COP28 aimed not only to negotiate agreements but also to drive tangible progress on critical issues.
Such as: Climate finance, human and natural resource protection, and improved livelihoods.

UAE’s pivotal role:

Securing financial commitments:

The UAE helped in mobilizing over $85 billion in financial pledges.
Moreover, it facilitated a landmark agreement on addressing climate-induced loss and damage, and advanced the global adaptation goal.

Transformational initiatives:

The launch of the $30 billion “Altera” fund by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan significantly boosted efforts to address climate finance gaps, particularly for developing countries.

COP28 Presidency looks forward to constructive cooperation with Azerbaijan and Brazil for the upcoming COP29 and COP30.
This is by sustaining the momentum.
And also by building upon the historic achievements of COP28 to strengthen the global climate action agenda.
