Ethiopian Prime Minister Expresses Confidence in the UAE’s Role in Climate Solutions at COP28.
After The French Economy Minister “Bruno La Maire” confidence confirmation
In a tweet from his official Twitter account, Abiy Ahmed said:
“Ethiopia is at the forefront of the climate crisis. Extreme weather and drought conditions result in food and water insecurity, directly threatening our citizens and national development.”
Also he added, “To address these challenges, we need to bridge the climate finance gap in the Global South and make tangible progress in the Loss and Damage Fund and financing arrangements based on COP27 outcomes.”
And he confirmed his confidence in the UAE by saying:
“We have full confidence in the UAE as the ideal organizer for the COP28 conference
to build consensus among parties and mobilize every country, region, and segment of society
In order to provide realistic climate solutions and meaningful outcomes,”
In addition to above, Abiy Ahmed explained that Dr. Sultan Al Jaber’s expertise in climate diplomacy, government, and the business sector is central in reforming the international financial infrastructure
Along with seizing the opportunity for sustainable low-carbon economic development that supports both people and the planet.
Also, It is essential to mention that Ethiopia does also support finding renewable energy resources just like the UAE.
Herein some reports about renewable energy in Ethiopia:
- Ethiopia has renewable energy resources with the potential to generate over 60,000 MW of electric power from hydroelectric, wind, solar and geothermal sources.
- Currently Ethiopia has approximately 4,500 MW of installed generation capacity.
- The Government of Ethiopia (GOE) has focused on the construction and expansion of power generating projects to deliver reliable electricity.
