CBUAE (Central Bank of the UAE) expects that the UAE hospitality and tourism sector will continue its strong performance for the rest of the year.
Driven by upcoming global events such as the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix and COP28.
As well as the gradual return of key source markets that have reopened after the pandemic, such as China.
The passengers number increase in Dubai and Abu Dhabi exceeded 25 %.
Moreover, CBUAE confirmed that Abu Dhabi witnessed a strong performance in the hospitality sector during the first half of this year.
Since the total number of hotel guests reached 2.4 million, an increase of 34% year-on-year.
While hotel occupancy rates reached 70% with an average stay of 2.4 nights.
When it comes to Dubai, the first half data indicates that it remains a prominent center for global tourism.
Because Dubai has received 8.5 million visitors during the first half with a hotel occupancy rate of 78%.
CBUAE explained in its quarterly report that Abu Dhabi International Airport recorded significant growth in passenger traffic during the first half of this year.
As there is a 67% increase in passenger traffic and passengers exceeded 10 million.
Compared to 6 million passengers in the same period last year.
The flights in the UAE increased around 50% compared to 2022.
The number of flights also increased significantly, with approximately 68,000 flights recorded, an increase of 36% over the previous year.
The airport’s network has also expanded, with flights now available to 114 destinations through 27 airlines.
The report noted that Dubai International Airport received 41.6 million visitors in the first half of this year.
An increase of 49% compared to the same period in 2022.
Driven by a 43% year-on-year increase in the second quarter.
A total of 201,000 flights were recorded in the first half of the year.
Also air cargo volumes increased by 16.1% year-on-year in the second quarter to reach 456,000 tonnes.
The report also stated that Dubai International Airport is currently the busiest international airport in the world.
This is according to the Airports Council International, for the ninth year in a row.
