Canada reaffirms its determination to bring the world together at Dubai’s Expo 2020

As the countdown to the Expo in October next year begins, Expo 2020 Dubai officials and diplomatic missions of Canada in the UAE met to discuss continuing cooperation.

Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Director General of the Dubai Bureau of Expo 2020 and Minister of State for Foreign Cooperation of the UAE, and Marcy Grossman, Ambassador of Canada to the UAE, chaired the conference. The Consul General of Canada in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Jean-Philippe Linteau, also attended the conference.

Canada unifies the world in Expo 2020

In the post-COVID background, both participants emphasized the importance of Expo 2020 Dubai as a catalyst for bringing the world together. Expo 2020 Dubai will put together more than 200 partners. Including governments, enterprises, international organizations and educational institutions. And also millions of tourists, at a time of unparalleled global instability and insecurity. This is to celebrate humanity and help create a sustainable world.

While much has changed this year the problems. Problems that also persisted prior to the pandemic are pressing and will persist until it is over. The Expo seeks to promote confidence, creativity and a common purpose for the future by bringing countries and individuals together to help find solutions to these challenges.

During the conference, Canada reiterated its continuing commitment to the success of Expo 2020 Dubai and its strong partnership with UAE partners to provide activities and experiences for visitors that discuss mutual priorities such as creativity, tolerance and cooperation.

Jean-Philippe Linteau stated. “I look forward to welcoming many in-person and digital visitors to Canada’s magnificent pavilion. Also gaining traction in Expo’s Sustainability District. Sustainability is at the center of Canada’s approach to COVID economic recovery.”

The meeting also underlined the value of the bilateral relationship between Canada and the UAE. This is in developing a more secure, stable and productive future.

The first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, Expo 2020 Dubai. It will run from 1 October 2021 through 31 March 2022.
