BRICS Energy Ministers Meeting Emphasized UAE Commitment to Building Cooperation Bridges.
The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the BRICS Energy Ministers Meeting, Moscow, Russia.
United Arab Emirates delegation included:
- Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs.
- Engineer Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector.
Al Olama emphasized that the UAE’s participation stems from its belief in multilateral international cooperation.
Because it is more essential than ever in overcoming the challenges facing the energy sector.
Especially in light of the geopolitical changes happening globally.
He highlighted the role of cooperation and joint efforts in achieving a more prosperous and brighter future for all.
He also explained that UAE’s efforts within BRICS group reflect its strategy of building cooperation bridges in energy and climate action sectors.
Addressing Climate Change Challenges, Nationally, Regionally, and Globally
This participation reaffirms the UAE’s commitment to enhancing international collaboration.
In order to tackle global challenges in the energy sector and achieve greater sustainability.
By adopting innovative solutions, global partnerships, and effective international cooperation.
Al Olama said:
“Our participation in BRICS Energy Ministers Meeting aligns with the UAE’s policies.
And also with its leadership role in supporting sustainability practices and addressing climate change challenges at the national, regional, and international levels.”
He noted that COP28, hosted by UAE, emphasized the need to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030.
Additionally, he mentioned the “historic UAE agreement,” which set a global path to keeping the 1.5°C goal within reach.
The agreement has also strengthening the UAE’s leading position in climate action.
The UAE and BRICS Countries Are Sharing A Common Goal
He added that participating in BRICS Energy Ministers Meeting was an opportunity to explore new avenues of cooperation.
It also contributed to the global dialogue on the transition to clean and sustainable energy.
He pointed out that the UAE and BRICS share a common goal, that aims at:
- Promoting sustainable development
- Accelerating the energy sector’s transformation
- Supporting global efforts in energy
