The United Arab Emirates participated in the BRICS Chief Justices Forum, presided over by the President of the Russian Federation.
The forum took place in Sochi, Russia, from June 17 to 21. Delegations from several member countries attended.
The UAE delegation was led by His Excellency Mohammed Hamad Al Badi, President of the Federal Supreme Court.
Accompanying him were Judge Shihab Abdul Rahman Al Hammad, Judge Ibrahim Obaid Ali Al Ali, and Mohammed Saeed Nasser Al Shibli.
Mohammed Hamad Al Badi: “Sustainable economic development requires a secure investment environment”
In his opening speech, His Excellency Mohammed Hamad Al Badi emphasized the importance of enhancing global governance.
He highlighted that sustainable economic development requires a secure investment environment that protects investors’ rights.
He mentioned that judiciary plays a vital role in ensuring justice, protecting investor rights, and creating a stable and reliable business environment.
His Excellency also discussed the successful implementation of the UAE’s electronic litigation system.
He confirmed that technology adoption in court proceedings is crucial for achieving swift, efficient justice and reducing costs while enhancing transparency and efficiency.
During BRICS Chief Justices Forum, participants discussed various topics, including:
- Ensuring Unified Judicial Practices
- Judicial Protection of Social Rights for Citizens
- Investor Rights Protection
- Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in Criminal Proceedings
- Technology Adoption in Court Operations
- Harmonizing Legislation among BRICS Countries.
The participants concluded with several recommendations.
Emphasizing the need for continued constructive dialogue among BRICS Supreme Courts, cooperation development, joint visits, and study programs to promote convergence between judicial systems based on equal partnership.
