Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared today, Monday, before Tel Aviv District Court for the tenth session of hearings regarding the corruption charges against him, amid heated disputes at the start of the session.
According to Walla news website, Netanyahu’s trial began with shouting.
While defense lawyers protested over the lengthy sessions.
The Judge Did not Allow Benjamin Netanyahu to Make Any Statement
The Prime Minister has been demanding shorter hearings.
Citing security concerns due to the ongoing war in Gaza, which Israeli authorities have not yet declared over.
The website did not specify the reasons behind the dispute at the beginning of Netanyahu’s tenth court session.
The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the judge ordered Netanyahu to sit quietly.
They also did not allow him to make any statements during the trial.
Netanyahu responded, saying he was “very surprised” by her behavior.

What Are the Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000 ?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently embroiled in a significant legal battle.
He is facing charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust across three distinct cases.
Commonly referred to as Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000.
These allegations have not only dominated Israeli headlines but have also profoundly impacted the nation’s political landscape.
Case 1000
Case 1000 centers on accusations that Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, received lavish gifts.
Including expensive cigars and champagne, from wealthy businessmen such as Arnon Milchan and James Packer.
In return, Benjamin Netanyahu allegedly provided favors benefiting their business interests.
Notably, it’s claimed that Netanyahu advocated for tax exemptions advantageous to Milchan and intervened to secure a U.S. visa for him.

Case 2000
Case 2000 involves purported negotiations between Netanyahu and Arnon Mozes, the publisher of the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
The indictment suggests that Netanyahu sought favorable media coverage in exchange for supporting legislation that would suppress Yedioth Ahronoth’s competitor, Israel Hayom.
Case 4000
Case 4000 is the most severe one.
It alleges that Netanyahu, during his tenure as Minister of Communications, provided regulatory benefits worth approximately $500 million to Shaul Elovitch, the controlling shareholder of Bezeq, Israel’s largest telecommunications company.
In return, Netanyahu and his family purportedly received positive coverage from Walla! news site, owned by Elovitch.
Netanyahu has consistently denied all allegations.
He was labeling them as a politically motivated “witch hunt.”

Why the Delays in Benjamin Netanyahu Trial ?
His trial, which commenced in 2020, has been a focal point of national discourse, leading to widespread protests and political fragmentation.
The proceedings have been marked by delays.
Partly due to Netanyahu’s health issues, including a recent prostate surgery.
Besides his requests for postponements citing security concerns amidst ongoing regional conflicts.
The trial has also intensified divisions within Israeli society.
Supporters view Netanyahu as a victim of an unjust legal system.
While critics argue that the charges underscore deep-seated issues of corruption within the nation’s leadership.
This polarization has been exacerbated by Netanyahu’s attempts to implement judicial reforms perceived by many as efforts to undermine the judiciary’s independence.

“The Bibi Files”
By 2024, “The Bibi Files” documentary, directed by Alexis Bloom added another layer to the controversy.
The film featured leaked footage from police interrogations of Benjamin Netanyahu.
Offering an unprecedented glimpse into the investigations.
The documentary has been banned in Israel.
Due to privacy laws but has sparked significant international interest and debate.
As the legal proceedings continue, the outcomes of these cases will have lasting implications on Netanyahu’s political career and the broader Israeli political environment.
