Exceptional Apple Discounts on iPhone
Apple has announced rare discounts of up to 500 Chinese yuan (approximately $68.50) on the latest iPhone models in China.
This offer lasts for four days from January 4th to 7th.
It is part of the American tech giant’s efforts to boost its market share in the Chinese market.
As it is witnessing intense competition from local companies like Huawei, according to gadgets360.
Apple promotional offer includes discounts on several iPhone models when using specific payment methods.
The iPhone 16 Pro, which starts at 7,999 yuan, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at 9,999 yuan, will get a maximum discount of 500 yuan.
Additionally, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will benefit from discounts of up to 400 yuan. (1 USD = 7.299 CNY).
Competition
Apple discounts on iPhone comes amidst consumer caution about spending due to China’s economic slowdown and deflationary pressures.
As the consumer inflation rate dropped to its lowest level in five months in November.
Meanwhile, Apple is struggling with a decline in its market share in China, the world’s largest smartphone market.
Its sales in the third quarter of 2024 decreased by 0.3% compared to the previous year, according to IDC research data.
While Huawei achieved significant growth of 42% during the same period, increasing the pressure on Apple in its Chinese market.

The competition intensified, especially after Huawei’s return to the premium devices sector in August 2023, supported by locally-made chip technologies.
The company also offered substantial discounts of up to 3,000 yuan.
Those discounts were on a range of its high-end devices during the last weekend, further intensifying competition with Apple.
As Apple tries to maintain its position in the Chinese market, the question remains:
Will these limited discounts be enough to face the fierce competition from local companies offering attractive prices and advanced technologies?
