Dr. Anwar Gargash Emphasizes the Need for Dialogue amidst Regional Geopolitical Changes
During his participation in IISS Manama Dialogue 2024, HH Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, highlighted the significant geopolitical shifts in the region, especially after the recent changes in Syria.
He stressed the importance of careful consideration, wisdom, and dialogue to steer the region away from chaos and violence.
In a tweet, Gargash expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the dialogue.
He thanked Bahraini Foreign Ministry and the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
He also reiterated the need for a thoughtful approach to address the region’s complex challenges.
Syria Territorial Integrity Remains Unclear
Regarding the situation in Syria, Gargash urged Syrians to cooperate to prevent further chaos.
He emphasized that the future of Syria should be determined by Syrians themselves.
He cautioned against armed groups exerting control over defense and security matters.
Besides the exploitation of the political vacuum by non-state actors.
Gargash expressed hope that Syrians would work together to avoid another cycle of chaos.
He also noted that the situation regarding Syria’s territorial integrity remains unclear, emphasizing the need of a stable and trustworthy state.

The Syrian Pound Has Collapsed Dramatically
The Syrian Pound has experienced a sharp decline after the rapid developments in Syria.
Mentioning that the value of the Syrian Pound against the US Dollar plummeted by 42% in Damascus trading, reaching an all-time low.
On Sunday, the Syrian Pound has fallen to a record low of 22,000 Syrian Pounds for one US Dollar in the capital, Damascus.
The website SP-Today shows that the price reached 36,000 Syrian Pounds in Aleppo city.
While 29,000 Syrian Pounds for one US Dollar were recorded in Hasakah.
This sharp decline reflects the deepening economic and political crisis in the country, which will have a significant impact on the lives of citizens.
