Who Made Tesla Cybertruck Explosion ?
Officials said the driver of a Tesla Cybertruck that detonated outside Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day had used the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT to plan the explosion.
Officials told reporters Tuesday that he had used the app to try to determine the amount of explosives needed.
Last week, authorities identified the deceased individual found inside the Cybertruck as 37-year-old Matthew Levilsberger, a U.S. Army veteran.
They stated he acted alone.
The FBI has described the incident as an apparent suicide attempt.
ChatGPT Used For the First Time in Planning Explosion
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Tuesday:
“The Cybertruck explosion was the first incident on U.S. soil, using ChatGPT to create an explosive device.”
Critics of artificial intelligence have warned that it could be misused for malicious purposes.
They added that Trump Hotel attack in Las Vegas could fuel these concerns.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said at a press conference:
“It’s worth noting that now we have very clear evidence in this case that the suspect used ChatGPT to assist in planning his attack.”

OpenAI Comment on the Explosion Outside Trump Hotel
OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, said in a statement carried by Axios:
“We confirm our commitment to the responsible use of AI tools as the design of our models rejects harmful instructions.”
The FBI said there was no connection between the New Orleans attack, which killed over a dozen people.
While the Cybertruck explosion, which caused seven minor injuries.
The bureau added that the suspect had no known grudge against President-elect Donald Trump.
FBI added: “He may have been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.”
