Abu Dhabi: A Global Hub for Advanced Innovations in Food and Water Fields
Abu Dhabi Investment Office has launched the Alternative Protein (PALT), a pioneering annual event in Abu Dhabi.
This event is designed to position the emirate as a global hub for advanced innovations in the fields of food and water.
It includes the deployment of advanced water purification technologies, it is also directing global investments towards innovative food solutions.
As well as enhancing the production of cultivated meat in Abu Dhabi.
This gathering aims to attract AED 128 billion in investments, contribute AED 90 billion to Abu Dhabi’s GDP, and create more than 62,000 new jobs by 2045.
The project aims to research sustainable options for alternative proteins.
In order to enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub for alternative protein to address critical challenges such as:
Food security, water sustainability, and resource efficiency.
It also supports global efforts to combat food shortages.
Developing New Food Components and Water Technologies
The growth of agrifood and water abundance focuses on developing new food components and water technologies.
Including algae, reverse osmosis, and traditional food systems.
While providing business acceleration support.
In this regard, Fatima Al Zaheri, Director of the Agrifood and Water Abundance Growth Complex at the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, stated:
“There are many alternatives, most notably cultivated protein or lab-produced meat.
The second alternative is protein produced from precision fermentation.
As well as alternative protein from plants or plant protein.”
