Al Futtaim Automotive Survey Reveals UAE;s Strong Interest in Electric Vehicles
A new survey by Al Futtaim Automotive in partnership with YouGov surveyed 2,008 UAE residents and revealed a significant shift towards electric vehicles (EVs).
- Growing environmental awareness: 64% expressed concerns about the environmental impact of traditional cars and showed strong interest in EVs.
- Purchase intention: 26% plan to buy an EV in the next year, and 50% are considering it within the same timeframe.
- Shift to primary transportation: 63% intend to adopt EVs as their main mode of transport within 1-2 years.
- Confidence in infrastructure: 73% expect charging stations to be readily available within 5 years.
- Challenges remain: Safety (49%), service costs (44%), limited charging infrastructure (41%), battery life (41%), and resale value (32%) are concerns.
- Price perception: 68% perceive EVs as more expensive, potentially hindering adoption.
