Joby Aviation Launches Aerial Taxi Service in Dubai Before its Home
Joby Aviation expected to launch its aerial taxi service in Dubai before anywhere else, including the United States, home of the startup.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Bonnie Simi, head of operations, said:
The partnership with Dubai announced earlier in the year was “more advanced because of their approach” compared to other methods.
“so we will be able to start in Dubai first.”
Joby announced in February that it was targeting initial operations in Dubai by 2025.
Winning an exclusive 6-year agreement to operate electric air taxi and commercial services by early 2026.
Special Resources to Joby in Dubai
He explained that the Government of Dubai has provided economic support.
While regulators have allocated special resources to Joby.
Which has helped to remove as many barriers as possible to move as quickly and as safely as possible.
Noting that the support helps to eliminate the risks of initial launch for us financially.
Bonnie Simi said: Joby is tentatively planning to establish 4 vertical airports across Dubai for its vertical take-off and landing electric vehicles.
Joby competitors Targeting the Arabian Gulf Market
On a related level, “Rival Archer Aviation” reached a preliminary agreement last year with the Government of Abu Dhabi.
Targeting manufacturing and service launch by 2026.
