UAE President issued a law to establish the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a law establishing the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
The authority aims to achieve a range of objectives, including:
- Preserving Emirati heritage and “Sunnah” (customs and traditions).
In addition to strengthening the values of national identity and heritage within the community. - Documenting heritage practices and conducting research and studies related to literature and heritage.
- Supporting, promoting, and documenting poetry in its various forms, including Nabati (vernacular) and classical Arabic.
- Reviewing studies and publications related to the oral history of the emirate.
As well as its spoken dialects, the content of poems, written materials, and audio-visual content related to leadership and the nation. - Raising awareness of Emirati heritage and “Sunnah”.
And promoting and preserving the values of national identity to strengthen social cohesion. - Managing and organizing festivals, exhibitions, and heritage programs within and outside the emirate, in coordination with relevant authorities.
Authority Responsibilities
The authority will oversee a range of responsibilities, including:
- Developing strategies to achieve its objectives.
- Implementing policies, plans, and programs related to Emirati heritage and “Sunnah”.
- Establishing projects, centers, museums, exhibitions, seminars, and also conferences related to Emirati heritage and “Sunnah”.
- Collecting, preserving, and maintaining manuscripts, documents, and various heritage materials.
- Supporting and sponsoring researchers, artists, in addition to creatives in the field of Emirati heritage and “Sunnah”.

The New Authority Replaces both the Emirates Heritage Club and Committee for Managing Festivals and Cultural and Heritage Programs in Abu Dhabi
The establishment of Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority comes within the framework of the UAE’s efforts to preserve national heritage and strengthen national identity.
