The number of travelers through Abu Dhabi airports reached approximately 22.4 million passengers.
Data from “Abu Dhabi Airports” revealed that the number of arrivals through the emirate’s air gateways exceeded 11.1 million passengers.
While the number of departures was 11.3 million passengers during the same period.
Arrivals From Indian Subcontinent Are The Highest
According to the report, the Indian subcontinent topped the list of arrivals through the emirate’s air gateways by region of origin.
With around 3.2 million passengers in 2023.
Western Europe followed it with 1.9 million passengers and 1.7 million passengers from Asia.
The arrivals from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries amounted to approximately 1.6 million passengers, and 822,777 passengers came from East Asia.
Similarly, the Indian subcontinent led the list of departures from the emirate’s air gateways in 2023, with approximately 3.5 million passengers.
South America followed with 1.9 million passengers, and 1.7 million passengers departed to Asia.
The GCC countries accounted for around 1.6 million departing passengers.
Growth in Flight Movement
In terms of flight movements, Abu Dhabi International Airport witnessed a 27.8% growth compared to 2022.
141,225 flights recorded in 2023 compared to 110,536 flights in 2022.
Al Ain International Airport recorded 8,409 flights in the past year and 7,598 flights in 2022.
Regarding cargo shipments, a total of 319,993 tons of goods were imported through the emirate’s airports in 2023.
Most of it destined for Asia (138,187 tons).

Meanwhile, 238,644 tons of goods were exported during the same period, with Western Europe leading at 98,089 tons.
Al Ain International Airport handled 1,263 tons of cargo imports and received 501 tons in 2023.
These statistics highlight the significant air travel activity in Abu Dhabi Airports, highlighting their role as a major hub for both passengers and cargo.
