Federal Decree No. 82 of 2024 Suspending the First Ordinary Session of the Federal National Council 18th Legislative Term
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, issued Federal Decree No. 82 of 2024 suspending the First Ordinary Session of the Federal National Council 18th Legislative Term.
The decree stipulates that the First Ordinary Session of the Eighteenth Legislative Term of the Council shall be suspended at the end of the agenda of the session on Wednesday, 5/6/2024.
The President of the Federal National Council is entrusted with the execution of this decree, which shall be published in the Official Gazette.
The First Ordinary Session of the Federal National Council 18th Legislative Term witnessed:
- Discussions on various national issues across different sectors.
- The passing of six legislative bills.
- Discussions on seven general topics and the submission of 60 recommendations thereon.
- Posing 18 parliamentary questions to government representatives.
- Holding 70 meetings to discuss referred legislative bills and general topics.
- Active participation in strengthening diplomatic relations with brotherly and friendly countries.
- Securing four regional and international parliamentary positions.
- Participating in 122 parliamentary events.
- Submitting 182 technical papers.
- Hosting two international parliamentary conferences on the sidelines of the UAE’s hosting of COP 28 and the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization.
His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, expressed his appreciation for:
- The support of the wise leadership for the Federal National Council.
- The positive cooperation from Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers.
- The efforts of all government institutions, bodies, and authorities.
- The role of the Council’s standing committees.
- The practice of parliamentary diplomacy by the UAE Parliamentary Division.

The First Ordinary Session of the Federal National Council 18th Legislative Term marks a milestone in the journey of parliamentary work in the UAE.
