UAE Participates in the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Meetings
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, led the UAE delegation in the 65th session of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) meetings.
The Minister emphasized the UAE’s commitment to developing the intellectual property (IP) sector.
This is in accordance with best international practices.
Recognizing it as a fundamental pillar for strengthening the national economy.
He reviewed the advancements and achievements made by the UAE in IP protection areas.
Including enacting advanced legislations and building regional and international partnerships.

H.E Abdulla bin Touq highlighted the continued national efforts to solidify the UAE’s position as a hub for creative and innovative businesses.
Thisi is through implementing new initiatives like the new IP system.
The Minister stressed the significance of this year’s WIPO meeting.
Because it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the UAE’s membership in the organization.
He affirmed the UAE’s keenness to maintain cooperation with WIPO and member states.
As well as its support for IP protection initiatives and knowledge exchange.
Mentioning that the UAE expressed interest in implementing and activating the proposal to host a WIPO external office in Abu Dhabi.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan Patent Office (JPO)
H.E Abdulla bin Touq welcomed Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO, to participate in the World Government Summit in February 2025.
The Ministry of Economy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan Patent Office (JPO).
In order to strengthen cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
