RAK Natural History Group (RAKNHG) relaunched its volunteer program during a design gallery in Al Riffa, Ras Al Khaimah.
The initiative aims to enhance the interest and appreciation of Ras Al Khaimah’s natural history and heritage, in line with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability 2024 initiatives.
The group’s mission focuses on organizing talks and field activities to deepen the understanding of the emirate’s diverse geography, geology, marine environment, vegetation, mountainous areas, mangroves, coastal lakes, coral reefs, marine life, and archaeology.

The group expressed pride in Ras Al Khaimah, known as the “Emirate of Nature,” for its rich natural heritage.
They strive to raise awareness and oversee this remarkable legacy.
As Ras Al Khaimah prepares to host the Inter Emirates event in November 2024, the Natural History Group is actively seeking volunteers to participate in this exciting occasion and become valued members of the group.
The group announced the opening of its membership to explore and preserve the wonders of Ras Al Khaimah’s natural history.

The Natural History of the United Arab Emirates
The group launched its activities by cleaning several irrigation channels on farms in “Al Hadi” low-pressure system.
On the sidelines of the launch event, Dr. John Burt, Associate Professor of Biology at New York University Abu Dhabi spoke about his new book titled “The Natural History of the United Arab Emirates.”

The book features contributions from over 20 leading universities and institutions authors such as the Emirates Nature Society in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi.
It also provides a comprehensive inventory of the country’s unique natural habitats.
