Bin Zayed appreciates Pope Francis’s call for international solidarity to confront Corona

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday, valued the call of His Holiness, Pope Francis Pope, the Catholic Church for international cooperation and solidarity in addressing the risks posed by the Corona epidemic and reducing its repercussions.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “Our vision is united and stems from the document of human brotherhood, and we stress the importance of building a global alliance that faces challenges affecting the safety and stability of humanity.”

During a phone call with Pope Francis, I reiterated our shared vision inspired by The Document on Human Fraternity. His call for global cooperation in tackling COVID-19 is crucial, and together we are committed to building an alliance for the prosperity of humankind.

Sheikh Mohamed and Pope Francis discuss supporting bilateral relations

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received a phone call from His Holiness Pope Francis Pope of the Catholic Church, dealing with the close relations between the UAE and the Vatican and ways to support them and push them forward so as to achieve the common goals of the two parties.

The contact also covered the developments of the Corona pandemic on a global level, and efforts made to combat it.

In this context, the two sides stressed the importance of human solidarity in dealing with this pandemic and translating the principles of the Human Brotherhood Document that was signed in Abu Dhabi during the past year into practical steps and initiatives that contribute to enhancing the world’s response to it, whether on the humanitarian, economic, medical or other levels.

During his call, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the solidarity of the United Arab Emirates with His Holiness Pope Francis in calling for international cooperation in addressing the risks posed by the coronavirus.

For his part, His Holiness, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked the UAE for cooperating with the Vatican in providing medical and food aid to those affected by the Coronavirus, especially the Amazonian people in the Republic of Peru, where it established an air bridge to transport 40 tons of medical and food supplies to those affected In the Amazon.

His Holiness praised the Emirati humanitarian approach of extending a helping hand to many societies and countries in the world in confronting the virus.

The latest aid is targeted at those in need in Iquitos, Peru, a city of 400,000 people located on a winding Amazon River in the dense Amazon jungle in Peru.

The United Arab Emirates has provided medical and humanitarian assistance since the beginning of the “Corona crisis”, which amounted to about one thousand tons, benefiting nearly 963 thousand health workers in 68 countries around the world in order to support the efforts of countries in facing the Corona pandemic. It is the UAE’s consistent humane approach to solidarity and cooperation with countries and peoples of the world, especially during times of adversity and crisis and facing common challenges.

UAE humanitarian Aids

The UAE has provided more than 974 tons of aid to more than 68 countries, benefiting about 974 thousand medical workers due to the Corona crisis.

Pope Francis recently donated 1 million euros ($ 1.1 million) to a new charitable fund, aimed at helping those in distress in Rome, due to the emerging coronavirus crisis.

The Pope of the Catholic Church was warning against people giving up the necessary precautions to protect against the Coronavirus and treating some as safe from the virus after declining infection levels in many Western countries.

Pope Francis intended to continue to follow the rules laid down by the local health authorities.
