His Excellency Matar Al Tayer, announced the completion and implementation of the development of 4 traditional abra stations in Dubai Creek.
With the aim of improving the experience of abra users.

As well as raising the safety and security requirements in maritime transport stations.
Since more than 14 million passengers use them annually.

And also implementing the requirements of Dubai Code for people of determination.
In addition, increasing the capacity of the Bur Dubai station by 33%.

About the project of Abra Stations in Dubai Creek.

Al Tayer said: This project comes within the comprehensive plan that the Authority has developed to develop the maritime transport system.
Because it is a vital means of transportation in the Emirate of Dubai.
Also it constitutes a qualitative addition to the maritime transport sector in the Emirate of Dubai.

The plan includes the development of four stations:

-Bur Dubai Model Station.
–Deira Old Souq Station.
-Dubai Old Souq Station.
-Sabkha Station.

He stressed that the maritime transport sector is witnessing continuous growth.
The growth is in the number of means of transport, stations, and passengers.
This is due to the launch of Dubai Water Canal, which connects Dubai Creek to the coastal area.

This sector will get stronger with the completion of the construction of urban and tourist facilities on the sides of the canal.
As well as the construction of maritime transport stations in the canal.

Marine transport will be the preferable choice for many citizens, residents, and tourists.
As they can enjoy the sight of the tourist and urban facilities on the banks of Dubai Creek, Dubai Water Canal, and Dubai beaches.

Development with preserving the heritage identity.

He added: The works of developing the Bur Dubai Model Station took into account the preservation of the heritage identity.
It included providing facilities for customers, a shaded outdoor area, and investment sites that serve abra users and visitors to the area.
The development of the technical systems in the station was also included.

New technologies have been employed and environmentally friendly development materials with high efficiency have been used.
In order to reduce maintenance costs, increase asset life by 10%, in addition to reducing carbon emissions.
The project also included the development of lighting in stations and maritime anchorages.

How long does it takes to develop Abra Stations in Dubai Creek ?

He pointed out that the Authority has started the development work of the Deira Old Souq Station.
While the implementation of the development of Dubai Old Souq and Sabkha stations will be in the fourth quarter of 2024.

It is worth noting that the Roads and Transport Authority has developed a predictive maintenance system for maritime transport.
which includes the installation of remote monitoring devices on some equipment and sensors on maritime transport.

The system has contributed to achieving a 97% availability indicator for maritime means.
As well as rationalization of maintenance costs through early fault detection and assistance in accurate planning of maintenance work.

Reduce the downtime of marine means, and accurate planning of spare parts needs and avoid storing large quantities of materials.
The Authority intends to develop a real-time system and use artificial intelligence techniques to analyze data, predict faults, and plan for the required spare parts.
