Hitachi Energy: UAE is on the way to sustainable future
According to Noaman Amjad, Executive Vice President and Regional Director at Hitachi Energy, the energy sector in the UAE is poised to achieve a sustainable future through the government’s efforts to expand the integration of renewable energy sources into the electricity grid.
This includes electrifying industrial sectors, promoting electric vehicles and deploying large-scale data centers.
And also supporting offshore operations with clean energy solutions.
The UAE benefits from strong financial capabilities, advanced logistics, and infrastructure.
Energy platforms and Advanced digital technologies
Noaman Amjad further explains: “In 2024, we are witnessing significant developments in the UAE’s energy sector.
The UAE’s focus on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 will drive investments in renewable energy projects and efforts to upgrade electricity networks.
It creates substantial investment opportunities for global companies operating in the energy sector.
Mentioning that transition toward sustainable energy sources will accelerate, due to the increased reliance on technologies such as:
High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems and power quality solutions to enhance grid stability.
The UAE recognizes that achieving net-zero carbon emissions requires collective efforts, close collaboration, and broad partnerships.
Our leadership combines globally recognized energy platforms with advanced digital technologies to provide innovative solutions.”
Hitachi Energy Projects Are Committed to Sustainability
The UAE’s energy sector is indeed moving toward a carbon-neutral path, driven by sustainability commitments and innovation.
Several key projects involving Hitachi Energy demonstrate this commitment:
Largest Single-Site Solar Farm:
Hitachi Energy plays a pivotal role in supplying critical components for the development of the world’s largest single-site solar farm.
By collaboration with key entities such as Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Masdar, EDF Renewables, and Jinko Power.
Hitachi Energy contributes transformers, protection equipment, and communication systems to the Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project.
This project is expected to provide clean and renewable energy to the UAE’s water and electricity company.
It also represents a significant step toward achieving the nation’s renewable energy goals.
Electric Vehicle Infrastructure:
Hitachi Energy is also involved in establishing the UAE’s first electric truck charging infrastructure.
A major step toward reducing emissions and promoting sustainable transportation.
In collaboration with Admiral Global DMCC, Hitachi Energy provides scalable and upgradable fast-charging solutions.
Allowing multiple electric buses to be recharged simultaneously.
This infrastructure supports the UAE’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions in 2050.
By facilitating the transition from diesel to long-range, low-emission vehicles.

HVDC Technology for Offshore Operations:
Hitachi Energy supplies High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology to connect Adnoc’s offshore operations to onshore power grids.
This critical step reduces carbon emissions and supports the UAE’s carbon neutrality ambitions.
The HVDC technology enables the transfer of clean energy from the mainland to power Adnoc’s offshore production operations.
By minimizing energy losses and significantly reducing the carbon footprint.
This aligns with the UAE’s vision for sustainable energy sources.
Hydroelectric Station in Hatta:
Hitachi Energy is also involved in Hatta Hydroelectric Station project.
Which is expected to generate 250 megawatts of electricity with a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatt-hours.
These initiatives demonstrate the UAE’s commitment to sustainable energy and its role in shaping a cleaner and more resilient energy landscape.
As the UAE continues to focus on energy transition, it leverages its financial strength, technological innovation, and strategic partnerships to achieve its ambitious sustainability goals.
