2023 Yemen Peace Year; Named by the UAE, after long years of war since 2015.
The UAE affirmed that 2023 should be the year in which peace of Yemen will be achieved.
Also, all international efforts should be mobilized to put an end to the conflict and meet the legitimate aspirations of the Yemeni people.
As well as strengthening peace and stability in the country and the region.
Also, commending the efforts of Hans Grundberg, UN Special Envoy to Yemen.
Along with Saudi Arabia efforts and Oman mediation.
This came during the participation of Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, in the donor conference organized by Sweden and the Swiss Confederation.
Which was held in cooperation with the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, to mobilize support for 2023 Humanitarian Response Plan for Yemen.
The donor conference attended by the following:
Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the UN.
Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation.
Johan Forssell, Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade.
As well as numerous donor countries and international humanitarian organizations.
Al Kaabi affirmed the UAE’s commitment to assisting the Yemeni people.
Also, she stated that since 2015, the UAE has provided Yemen with a total of $6.6 billion in aid.
As well as a $300 million deposit to bolster the local currency.
In addition to multilateral peace and development efforts in Yemen.
Moreover, the UAE is supporting reconstruction and rehabilitation projects this year with approximately $325 million to improve:
-The healthcare.
-Renewable energy.
-Agriculture sectors, including a major project to build a dam for irrigation purposes.
The UAE welcomes ongoing negotiations.
Which aims to press the Houthi militias to show the required flexibility to ensure the success of the peace process.
Never to forget Saudi Arabia continued humanitarian assistance and efforts to advance the political process in Yemen.”
In fact, the UAE believes that the time has come to shift the focus from managing the conflict to finding a solution for it.
And this will start with renewing the truce and alleviating the humanitarian conditions of the Yemen people and the catastrophic consequences of the war.
Surely, there is a transition from emergency relief to recovery in order to foster sustainable development in Yemen and make 2023 Yemen Peace Year.
