14 Asian and African teams choose UAE for pre-Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations camps
14 Asian and African teams have chosen the UAE to host their pre-tournament camps for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar.
Which kicks off on January 12 and runs until February 10.
And also the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, which runs from January 13 to February 11.
The teams will also play a number of friendly matches to fine-tune their preparations for the continental tournaments.
Why the UAE attracted 14 Asian and African teams.
The UAE was able to attract these teams thanks to:
- Its world-class sports facilities.
- Ease of access and movement, luxurious accommodation services.
- The beauty of the weather and all opportunities to enjoy a high quality of life.
- The availability of security and safety for guests of the state.
Which guarantees the success of the camps and helps the teams achieve their goals.
The list includes 11 Asian teams: the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Syria, Iraq, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Australia, China, and Uzbekistan.
Which left Dubai on Tuesday after completing its camp at Al Nasr Club.
In addition to 3 African teams: Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Burkina Faso.
The UAE National Team and The Omani National Team.
The UAE national team began its camp in Abu Dhabi last week at the New York University Stadium on Saadiyat Island.
Moreover, it played a friendly match in which it beat Kyrgyzstan 1-0 on Friday.
The Whites will conclude their pre-tournament camp with a second friendly match against the Omani national team at Al Nahyan Stadium on Wednesday.
Also the Whites will compete in Group Three with Iran, Palestine, and Hong Kong.
Where they will open their campaign against Hong Kong on January 14.
The Omani national team began its preparations in Abu Dhabi since December 17 under the leadership of Croatian coach Branko Ivankovic.
Also its preparatory program included two friendly matches, winning the first against China.
Which is also preparing in the UAE, 2-0 at Baniyas Stadium on Friday.
The Omanis will conclude their preparations with a match against our team before leaving for Doha.
Syria
For its part, the Syrian national football team arrived in Dubai on Saturday.
In order to join a training camp at the Shabab Al Ahli Club stadium in Mamzar, in preparation for the continental event.
The “Eagles of Qasioun” will play two friendly matches during the camp,.
With the Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia teams, today and Monday, before traveling to Qatar.

Kyrgyzstan
The Kyrgyzstan national team began the second phase of its preparations for the AFC Asian Cup.
This is under the leadership of Slovakian coach Stefan Tarkhovich at a camp in the UAE from December 17 and will continue until tomorrow.
The preparatory program for the Kyrgyzstan national team included 3 friendly matches.
Of which it played two against Uzbekistan and the UAE.
Today, it meets its Syrian counterpart. Kyrgyzstan plays in Group Six alongside Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Thailand.
Iraq
The Iraqi national football team chose to host its pre-tournament camp for the tournament in Abu Dhabi.
Which runs until January 11, under the leadership of its Spanish coach Casas.
The “Lions of the Two Rivers” play in the AFC Asian Cup in Group Four alongside Japan, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
The preparatory program in the UAE includes a friendly match tomorrow against its South Korean counterpart.
Which also arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday to enter a preparatory camp.

The Korean Football Association said that the team along with a number of players residing in Korea and Europe, arrived in the UAE.
Moreover, they were joined by other players from Europe.
Including Son Heung-min, Tottenham Hotspur’s star, and Hwang Hee-chan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
English, Oh Heung-ju and Yang Heung-jun from Celtic of Scotland, and Lee Kang-in, a Paris Saint-Germain player from France, will be the last to register their arrival at the camp today.
The South Korean delegation will travel to Doha on January 10, where it will play in Group Five, which includes Jordan, Bahrain, and Malaysia.
Australia arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday to host a preparatory camp in preparation for Group B matches of the AFC Asian Cup.
Which it will kick off against India on the 13th of this month.
Australia, the 2015 AFC Asian Cup champion, will play a friendly match against Bahrain on Thursday at Baniyas Stadium.
Africa
In preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Angola national team will meet its Democratic Republic of the Congo counterpart tomorrow in Abu Dhabi.
And on the 10th of this month with the Burkina Faso national team.
