The 13th WTO Ministerial Conference commenced today in Abu Dhabi and will continue until February 29th.
Trade ministers and senior officials from around the world are participating.
In order to discuss the rules and regulations governing global trade activities and explore reshaping its future.
The conference brings together 175 delegations from member states and observer states.
As well as private sector leaders, non-governmental organizations, and civil society representatives.
This diversity offers the international community a chance to collaborate towards a more efficient, sustainable, and inclusive trading system.

H.H Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed the guests of the UAE to the 13th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference in Abu Dhabi.
His Highness emphasized that trade is a fundamental pillar for development and peace in the world.

The 13th WTO Ministerial Conference Builds on Geneva’s 12th Ministerial Conference achievements.
The Ministerial Conference is the WTO’s highest decision-making body.
It serves as a crucial forum for its 164 members to address trade challenges, develop trade rules, and set the global trade policy agenda.
Participants in the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference aim to build on the achievements of the 12th Ministerial Conference, held in Geneva by June 2022.
Which witnessed significant accomplishments regarding fisheries support, food security, and electronic commerce.

The current Ministerial Conference focuses on enhancing the access of developing and least developed countries to the global trading system.
Other topics include intellectual property and the WTO’s dispute settlement mechanism,.
The conference provides an opportunity to explore greater avenues for cooperation and partnership.
This is with non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and civil society.
With the aim at enhancing the effectiveness of trade policies and programs.
Side events at the conference include:
- Global Trade Technology Forum, supporting the use of technology in global supply chains.
- Sessions on trade facilitation, in partnership with the “Union of Export Credit”.
- Trade finance, with the bank “HSBC.”
- Small and medium-sized enterprises, with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.
- Logistical challenges of the “World Logistics Passport” initiative, with DP World.
- The future of shipping, in cooperation with Emirates Airlines.
- Sustainable Trade Forum in Africa.
It’s worth noting that the World Trade Organization, founded in 1995, is the international body overseeing global trade rules.
Its Ministerial Conference, held every two years, is the highest decision-making forum.
It brings together ministers and senior officials from all member states to review, update, and expand the treaties that shape the global trading system.
