Emirates Society for Consumer Protection has provided 10 tips for what it calls “smart shopping” during the holy month of Ramadan.
The society urged consumers to prepare a detailed budget.
This is by determining their monthly income and distributing it across essential expenses.
Besides allocating a portion for emergencies and savings.
It also emphasized the importance of creating a shopping list of necessary items before shopping and sticking to it.
As well as taking advantage of promotions.
Emirates Society for Consumer Protection stressed the importance of sound financial planning during Ramadan and adhering to the set budget.

Al Muhairi: “Consumers Should Avoid Being Swayed by Large Discounts.”
The Chairman of Emirates Society for Consumer Protection Board of Directors, Mohammed Khalifa bin Azir Al Muhairi, affirmed that it is essential to avoid extravagance and waste during Ramadan by wise shopping.
He added that purchasing appropriate quantities can prevent food and financial waste.
With high focus on quality rather than quantity.
He emphasized the importance of verifying the validity of promotional offers before purchasing.
By benefiting from trustworthy deals only.
Moreover, consumers should ensure that these offers align with their actual needs.
They should also avoid being swayed by large discounts without confirming the quality and necessity of the product.

Al Muhairi urged consumers to do the following:

- Utilizing reliable applications and websites that facilitate easy price comparisons
- Keeping purchase receipts to safeguard consumer rights in case of any defects or the need for exchanges or returns

He stated that consumer awareness is the cornerstone of protecting their rights.

This is done in coordination with relevant authorities to maintain market stability and meet consumer needs.

Al Muhairi affirmed that the UAE is committed to protecting consumer rights.
And also to regulating the relationship between consumers and retailers through a comprehensive legal framework, primarily Federal Law No. (15) of 2020 on Consumer Protection.
Al Muhairi mentioned that Emirates Society for Consumer Protection conducts ongoing awareness campaigns through media outlets and social media platforms to educate consumers on proper shopping behaviors and their rights and responsibilities.
The society also coordinates with the Ministry of Economy and regulatory authorities to ensure price stability and the availability of essential goods.
He reaffirmed the society commitment to providing communication channels for consumers.
